Pilates is a form of full-body exercise that focuses on improving flexibility, strength, and body awareness through controlled movements. It is a form of fitness that caters to everyone and every level of wellness. It is a practice that is sustainable and that can be done consistently with or without equipment.
As a Pilates Instructor, you will increase your teaching confidence and class planning skills to energize others throughout their wellness journey. You’ll also give invaluable insight into the principles of fitness and health, as well as strategies for supporting clients as they work to increase their exercise, physical activity, and everyday living. Whether giving a class on a mat, a reformer, or virtually, you are sure to make a positive impact as a certified Pilates Instructor.
Our course material is continually updated so you can be sure you're receiving the most accurate and up-to-date information available. Upon completion of the Pilates Instructor course, you will:
Develop a greater understanding of human anatomy and physiology, and how they relate to exercise and overall health and wellness.
Learn the basic principles for exercise, fitness, and health, as well as how to apply these standards when creating single Pilates sessions and complete workout plans.
Know how to support clients as they engage in exercise and physical activity, regardless of whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advanced exercisers.
Understand how to foster health, safety, and welfare in a fitness environment – whether that environment is at home, in a gym, outdoors, or on a mat.
Understand the core Pilates exercises, as well as learn Pilates movements that are more advanced.
Have the skills needed to program and deliver a safe and effective Pilates teaching session based on your individual client’s needs, goals, and movement limitations.
Be able to modify a client’s Pilates workout plan as needed, either increasing or decreasing its intensity based on their situation and desired results.
The main course text includes everything you need to become an ISSA Mat Pilates Instructor. The course material is continually updated with new information so you can be sure you're receiving the most up-to-date information available.
This online handy reference guide walks you through the course unit-by-unit, allowing you to gain a better understanding of mat pilates concepts.
Weeks 2-9 conclude with a required quiz. Quizzes can be retaken as many times as needed and are a great resource for testing your knowledge in preparation for the final exam.
ISSA's certification exam solidifies your proficiency as a fitness professional. Once all course requirements are complete, you must take and pass the final exam. To pass the final exam, you must achieve an 80% or higher.
