My weight has always been an issue for me. Once I had my first daughter, I found myself overweight, unhealthy and feeling sluggish. I knew I had to do something to get myself lean and my weight under control. I tried several fad diets and even tried going back to the gym. The end result always being more exhaustion, weight gain, and hurting myself on equipment I didn't know how to use.

That's when my husband told me about ISSA Trainer, Obi Obadike. I reached out to Obi when I heard I could be part of the diet and exercise book he was writing with Morris Chestnut called, "The Cut". I was motivated to give it a shot.

I noticed a difference after the first week on the program. I lost five pounds in just five days but more importantly, I felt more energetic and began to realize how amazing my body really could be. Throughout my transformation, I worked out five days a week. That sounds intense but the workouts weren't extreme like all the other ones I had tried.

I wasn't stuck doing complex, back-breaking routines. Instead, I followed a simple routine that taught me the basics for creating a strong and lean body. I started seeing my body become more feminine in the mirror and got over the common misconception that lifting weights would cause me to be bulky and masculine.

Obi introduced me to circuit training, which sounds intimidating but made the workouts less daunting. I did one round and moved right along to the next. It's a great workout routine for a busy mom, student, and military spouse. After I did the strength training I moved on to cardio. Doing cardio at the end of the workout rather than starting out with it saved my energy and was more beneficial for proper form in strength training.

The nutritional part of the program was where I thought I'd struggle the most, but I found it became second nature to me to fuel both my family and myself with nutritional food. It was convenient to actually cook one meal for the whole family rather than separate meals.

I learned simple is better when it comes to the food you put in your body. After twelve weeks, I lost 28 pounds and looked like a new person. I was confident, strong, and found a new drive to do more outside of the gym.

My new found strength radiated throughout every aspect of my life. Now after having my second daughter, I know what works and what doesn't for my body to be strong and lean yet again!
