ISSA Announces Canadian Trainer of the Year
Carpinteria, CA – December 8, 2005 – The International Sports Science Association (ISSA) announced Monday their Canadian Trainer of the Year for 2005. The judging was based on training theories, innovative unique fitness concepts, media exposure, repeat rate of clientele, client results (such as weight loss or elite sporting results) and company net worth. Cat Smiley of Whistler, B.C. took the honor for the second year in a row. As Rochelle Yoshida, Public Relations Director for the ISSA, says, "Cat Smiley is an extraordinary trainer, who has explosively soared as a fitness leader in Canada".
Smiley (31), known for her "Kick Ass Workouts" and blunt personality, is a professional skier who has published over 500 fitness articles in various North American media, and appeared on numerous TV shows as a fitness expert and athlete. She owns and directs Cat Smiley Fitness, which includes personal training, Boot Camp, Fat Camp. Her Fat Camp will be the first extreme weight loss camp in North America to 'have the guts to call it Fat Camp'.
Approved by the ISSA, Smiley has created a totally new workout that forces fat to fall off, based on the sequence and intensity, and effects a complete body transformation within an astonishing time frame.
In 2005, Whistler locals lost a total of 2,411 lbs and 2,987 inches at Cat Smiley's Boot Camp, which consists of two months of regimented, old fashioned sweat sessions with a hellish instructor who pushes you out of your physical comfort zone, in a safe (and strangely enjoyable) environment. The average weight loss in 2005 was 5 lbs and 6 inches per month, per person, with one person losing 35 lbs and 29 inches in 8 weeks (10 dress sizes). The results are amazing and stem from Smiley' s no-nonsense approach to functional fitness. "We don't baby-sit our clients," she states. "This is as close to a military boot camp as it gets".
The exercises that make up Smiley' s "Boot Camp Workout" have been developed from her own personal experience - she grew up in rural New Zealand, having no access to a gym. No gym is required, and the exercises use no equipment, except a couple of dumb bells. Her unique approach to health and fitness is centered around showing you how to treat yourself like an athlete through diet, exercise, and lifestyle. "Everybody is able to become an athlete and feel like an athlete,"says Smiley. "That's what makes us stand out."
Smiley's fitness secrets will be unveiled in her first book, The Boot Camp Workout, which comes out January 15th, 2006.
