Beverly Hills MD Teams Up with Personal Trainer to Combat Obesity
Beverly Hills, CA – October 5, 2004: Weight control specialist Howard Flaks MD doesn't just tell his over weight patients to lose body fat. He doesn't use his 36 years of experience in fighting obesity with a simple command of watch your diet and go to the gym, either.
With a Magna Cum Laude degree in psychology in addition to his medical degree, former Cedar Sinai Medical Center doctor, Director of the Obesity Foundation and doctor to many movie stars and Olympic Athletes, Howard Flaks, M.D. has appeared on numerous television shows and is even the medical advisor for "Men's Fitness" magazine.
With more clout than virtually any medical doctor in the industry, Dr. Flaks often incorporates the expertise of a personal trainer in his weight control program. That is why he often refers patients to ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer Matthew Tanner.
Matthew Tanner is a fitness professional skilled in working with clients and helping them to decrease bodyfat percentage while increasing lean muscle tissue. He uses a weight-training regimen combined with cardiovascular exercise.
"Many of my clients have been referred by Dr. Flaks. I am honored to have the trust of a world-renowned M.D. like Dr. Flaks, who believes enough in my training, skills, and knowledge to refer his patients to me," reports Mr. Tanner, who has been an avid fitness enthusiast since childhood. "I guess the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. I just completed a 12-week measurement with a client, Derek, who at our first session had a 30% bodyfat reading and weighed 209 pounds. After 12 weeks of training Derek weighed in at 166 pounds, and a 17% bodyfat reading. "It has made all the difference in the world to have received so much guidance and knowledge. I couldn't have achieved so much so fast without the combined skills of Dr. Flaks and Matthew", said Derek.
Increasingly more doctors are using the services of a qualified personal trainer to assist them in helping their clients achieve an optimal weight, and body mass index. But, with more than 200 personal trainer certification agencies, making the decision on who is a qualified fitness instructor can be a daunting task, especially on a busy M.D. who does not have the time to check qualifications.
"Since 1995 I have referred countless patients to Matthew and witnessed nothing but the highest compliments" Dr. Flaks reported. With more teams that work together as well as Matthew Tanner and Dr. Howard Flaks, obesity can be treated much more effectively and lastingly.
