Fitness Training On The Internet To Hit Record Levels in 2005

Santa Barbara, CA -- March 3, 2005 -- Personal trainers are finding new ways to reach out and help even more people, utilizing the power of the internet. In an industry where most people visit a personal trainer face-to-face in a health club, the internet offers anyone looking to get in better shape the ability to receive instruction from a qualified fitness professional in the privacy of their home or office and even while traveling.

In 2004 the personal training industry experienced impressive growth in new areas. Industry experts agree that personal fitness trainers are in higher demand than ever before to work with the growing number of inactive and overweight individuals. For these fitness professionals, personal training on the internet is proving to be a very effective way to help more people and attract new clients that previously, they didn't have access to.

It has been reported that about 40% of the people would like to join a health club, but do not have access to one due to demographics, income and long distances from a gym or fitness facility. This represents a substantial number of people without access to proper health and fitness guidance.

"The number of Certified Fitness Trainers working with clients online has shown an increase of more than 400% in 2004 compared to 2003. Statistics have shown that the number of clients that will seek online training should more than double again in 2005," reports Dr. Sal Arria, CEO and Founder of the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), a southern-California based organization that certifies and provides continuing education to Personal Fitness Trainers.

"Online fitness training is really a win-win situation because it provides anyone with a convenient yet effective way to seek out a fitness expert to answer their all their fitness or training questions. It's advantageous for the Personal Trainers because they can provide consultations and specific training programs from their home, on the road or between seeing clients at the gym. It's also very profitable, they can earn as much or more per hour, "Dr. Arria commented.

"Working with clients online represents an additional means to help more people outside a trainer's local community." says Dr. Arria. "We have trainers who live in Florida for example, who are working with clients from virtually every state nationwide. Our Certified Trainers certainly couldn't have done that effectively 10 years ago. Utilizing today's technology is in essence helping more people get active." he said.
