How to Use Tuition Assistance for ISSA programs

Army

Army students wishing to access Tuition Assistance for ISSA programs will utilize the GoArmyEd Tuition assistance portal.

Note: The following instructions are from the AVOTEC website. If you have questions or problems following these steps, please refer to the Army Education Center for assistance.
  1. If you do not have an active GoAmyEd account, obtain one from the Army Education Center.
  2. Log in to GoArmyEd
  3. Soldiers who have previous used the TA Reimbursement form:
    • Click "My Virtual Education Center"
    • Click "Enroll or Drop a Course/Withdraw from a Course" link
    • Click the "Launch Reimbursement Request" link
  4. Soldiers who have not used the TA Reimbursement form:
    • Click "My Virtual Education Center"
    • Click "Enroll or Drop/Withdraw from a Course"
    • Click "Request TA and Enroll in a Course"
    • Once you have reviewed your account information, click "Account Information Verified"
    • Click "OK"
    • Select the term for your class start date
    • Click "Class Search" radio button
    • Click "Search"
    • Click the statement, "Click here if you wish to take a class from a college not listed", on the Search Course Schedule screen
    • Type SVP in the college field on the "Add Request TA Reimbursement" screen. (Subject code and catalog Nbr will then auto populate.)
  5. Start date
    • If enrolling in a program, type in course Start Date and click "Add".
    • If enrolling in an exam, type in Exam date and click "Add".
  6. Enrollment form:
    • If enrolling in a program, complete:
      i.Course Title ii.End Date iii.Instruction Mode
    • If enrolling in an exam, complete:
      i.Type of exam ii.End Date iii.Instruction Mode
  7. Registrar Contact:
    • If enrolling in a program, complete:
      i.Name of school (satellite campus if applicable) and POC ii.Phone iii.Email iv.School Web Site
    • If enrolling in an exam, complete:
      i.Name of certifying Agency and POC ii.Phone iii.Email iv.Certifying Agency Web site
  8. Course cost:
    • If enrolling in a program, place the program cost in the "Additional TA eligible Fees" block. (No other blocks in the course cost area should be filled)
    • If enrolling in an exam, place the exam cost in the "Additional TA eligible Fees" block. (No other blocks in the course cost area should be filled)
  9. Click "Save" to submit the form

Once you receive your authorization form, email or fax it to ISSA's Military Processing Department--military@issaonline.edu, 1.805.745.8119 For faster email processing, type "Army tuition assistance" into the subject line of your email. Include your full name and your chosen course(s) in the email body.

Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard

1. Begin Your Tuition Assistance Document

If this is your first time setting up Tuition Assistance, or if you have relocated to a new base, you may need some or all of the following documents in order to complete the Tuition Assistance process with your Education Service Officers (ESO). Please contact your ESO to determine which documents you will need.

2. Complete Your Tuition Assistance Form (s) and Submit to Your ESO

Please make sure to submit the proper number of forms: Students taking more than one course can submit one Tuition Assistance form if all their courses begin on the same date. Students taking more than one course where the courses begin on different dates (i.e. one in Spring 2009 and one in Spring 2010) must submit a separate Tuition Assistance form for each class.

Important Information to Include
  • Correct Course number and title
  • Start and End Dates for the course(s)
  • Billing address for invoices to be sent
Important Signatures to Include
  • Proper signatures from Education Services Officer (ESO) and Command Representative
  • Student signature

3. FAX your forms

FAX your approved Tuition Assistance forms to ISSA at 805-745-8119, before your course start date. Or you can MAIL your approved Tuition Assistance forms to ISSA, 1015 Mark Avenue, Carpinteria, California 93013. Be sure to call your ISSA Enrollment Representative at 800-892-4772 to confirm receipt.

Note: Please do not send the Application for Tuition Assistance; this is not the approved form.

If you do not receive a confirmation email within 48 hours after you fax or mail your Tuition Assistance form, please call your ISSA Enrollment Representative at 800-892-4772.

4. Visit the ISSA Online Education Center

The education center located at www.issatrainer.com is available for you 24 hours a day, empowering you to study, take your exams or network with other students worldwide in the active online discussion board.

Military Spouses

How to apply for MyCAA financial assistance:
  • Set up a profile on MyCAA


  • If you receive notice of a secure connection failure:
    • Click on "Add Exception"
    • Click on "Get Certificate"
    • Since Military sites do not use a 3rd party, it will show up as "Unknown Identity." Click on "Confirm Security Exception" to access the MyCAA registration page.


  • Review and digitally sign (by entering your user name and password) the MyCAA online Statement of Understanding (SOU) Terms and Conditions.


  • Call a Military OneSource Career/Education Consultant to begin working on your career goal and Career Plan (1-800-342-9647).


  • Click here to locate ISSA on the MyCAA site, or search for ISSA by typing "International Sports Sciences Association" into the school search feature.


  • Financial Assistance is paid directly to schools listed on the site and registered in the AI Portal. (Not approved for Coast Guard spouses)


  • Choose the program that best fits your interests and educational goals from the ISSA courses page (link to courses page target _blank).


  • Obtain Financial Assistance authorization for the program(s) from your Education Consultant.


  • Notify an ISSA Enrollment Representative (military@issaonline.edu, 1.800.892.4772--toll-free, or 1.805.745.8111--international) of your authorization. He or she will process your enrollment and your course materials will be shipped on the course start date!
    • For faster email processing, type "MyCAA financial assistance" into the subject line of your email.
    • Include your full name and your chosen course(s) in the email body.
