General physical fitness activity, recreational sport participation and competitive athletic involvement all involve a certain percentage of our society’s population. Though the percentage of people involved in certain activities may flux, the fact remains that active people, at one time or another, may have to deal with an activity-related injury. Since fitness trainers are working closely with clients of all physical fitness and athletic ability levels we felt it was important to introduce some general concepts for trainers to safely identify and manage sports and activity related injuries.
